You know what time it is, Breaker of the Month is back! At Tranquil Productions the last few months have been incredibly busy with many changes to the structure of the business and our involvement in events across Bradford. It’s been an amazing time but it has meant that we haven’t had the opportunity to announce the Breaker of the Month (BOTM) winners over the past few months. As such, we will be announcing the winners each week until we have caught up to the current BOTM.

We are excited to announce a dedicated bgirl who took the BOTM title in the last couple months, Himani aka Bgirl Labyrinth. Labyrinth was absolutely on fire and she still is, she began to make changes in her life a few months before she was crowned Breaker of the Month. It can take some time for these changes to come into effect but when the improvements started to show in her dancing it was amazing to see and all the hard work definitely paid off, she decided to step her game up in her training, work ethic and personal life.

It’s important to remember when you make changes to improve areas of breakin life or life in general, sometimes it can take a while for the results to show. This can be hard in a world where expectations are set to have everything happen straight away, but in reality it just doesn’t work that way. You must dig deep and push past barriers to see results. This doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a daily, weekly or monthly process of consistently working towards the aims you set. Labyrinth perfectly demonstrated this and broke those personal targets which earned her this title and elevated her level amongst the other bboys & bgirls.

Whilst Clean North was going through a few changes and so was Labyrinth’s work life, she did not let it stop her breakin journey or progression. Instead of being overcome by the changes in her life, she saw this as a time to push even harder and to make sure not only her own dance level went up but also that of her crew mates. She added two extra sessions per week to her training routine and encouraged others to join her. After a few months there was an obvious change in the amount of musicality and details Labyrinth displayed in her dance, her strength and flexibility had also drastically improved. Labyrinth took more of a leadership position in Clean North and managed the crew, helping them to deliver an incredible show at both Bradford Brawl 3 and Tech Styles 5, which included improved sections she had choreographed. She was also instrumental in helping Clean North to take the win at Bradford Brawl 3 and set a great example to all the other bboys and bgirls present.

Labyrinth is the only breaker to receive this award twice, which is a massive feat considering you have to maintain one of the highest training levels in the Tranquil Productions family, show significant improvement and maintain the correct Hip Hop mentality throughout. It’s harder to win this award for a second time than it is to the first time around. That being said Himani took this title and demonstrated to the rest of the family what it takes to lead the way.

We hope that this is just the beginning of Labyrinth’s journey and look forward to seeing her battling more this year, on the scene and hopefully overseas. Since winning the title she has already achieved some great things, including overcoming her fear of public speaking and delivering a 10-minute talk as one of the guest speakers alongside MC Trix & Kleju at the Hip Hop Collective during Tech Styles 5.

We hope to catch her for an interview later this year. Where you will hopefully get to hear about her thoughts on BOTM and the mind set she has when it comes to dance. Congratulations Bgirl Labyrinth don’t stop now!
