Bradford is one of the best cities in the UK for breakin at present. The scene is thriving and we have regular visitors from outside the city for training. Tranquil Productions teaches in many schools across Bradford and has close links with the Bradford Metropolitan District Council and other influential organisations. This means a high volume of people are getting into Breakin and learning about the culture and what it means to be a Bboy/Bgirl. The battle events held within Bradford declined due to the economic state of the city but thankfully they are on the rise again which is great. Tranquil Productions is already in the process of organising the next battle event “Tech Styles 4”.

The most recent event that took place was the Urban Festival which Tranquil Productions took a key role in organising. Clean North performed as a headline act and once again were well received by the audience. Below is a clip with highlights from the show.

Prior to the festival Tranquil Productions secured funding to go into schools/centres across Bradford/Yorkshire. The aim was to teach children at these venues for 6 weeks leading up to the festival and to have them perform on the day. This was a huge success Thank God and I want to thank my team Fiona Thompson (Bgirl Fox) & Mark Yeadon (Bboy Styles). All the schools/centres performed on the day and the videos can be viewed on the youtube playlist below(click in top left corner of video below for the playlist). At the Festival there were also free breakdance workshops throughout the day for anyone who wanted to get involved.

There was a prize for the best performance and that went to Little London Primary school, congratulations! There was also a solo battle, the best dancers entered from each school along with some of the other young established dancers from the city. The battle was won by Bboy Airdy from Dirty South Crew congratulations. There are more photos to be viewed on either “Flickr” or “Facebook” just click on the links.
